Engagement shootings are a wonderful opportunity for me and my couples to get to know each other a bit better before the wedding. Above all, the bridal couple gets the opportunity to practice spending time in front of the camera so that they feel comfortable at the wedding. A Love-Shoot also makes sense, because the they can find out what exactly they want for the wedding shoot.
Last spring, I was with Romana and Johann in the are of Golling, Salzburg, to photograph their engagement shoot at one of my favorite places, the Gollinger waterfall. Waterfalls naturally have something magical about them. We deliberately went to the location after the sun had already passed to get a wonderfully soft light. Especially in a forest where there is harsh sunlight, it can produce an unfortunate light-shadow game.
The two posed happily in the rocky landscape. Since I’m from fashion photography, I know how I best instruct my couples and after a short settling phase, it was easy for them to move naturally in front of the camera.
After the waterfall location, I then decided in the evening light for a setting in the mountains. The late light of the day is very soft and flatters the lovers very much.
